no= 'not a/any

 That's correct! "No" can be used as a negative form of "a/any." Here is a chart to help you understand how to use each one:

DeterminerExampleMeaning
No articleI like pizza.General, unspecified noun.
A/AnI need a pen.Specific, singular noun.
AnyDo you have any siblings?Indefinite, negative or uncertain noun.
NoI have no money.Negative, zero quantity of noun.

Here are some additional examples to illustrate the use of "no":

  • There are no more seats available. (negative or zero quantity of seats)
  • I have no interest in that movie. (negative, no interest)

Note that "no" is used to indicate a complete absence or zero quantity of the noun, whereas "not a/any" indicate a negative or non-existent quantity. For example, "I have no money" means that there is zero money, whereas "I don't have any money" means that the quantity of money is negative or non-existent (i.e. the speaker doesn't have enough money).
