 for: qëllim dhe shkak 

1. qëllimet e njerëzve 

 

For – ‘për’ , mund të përdoret për të folur rreth qëllimeve të njerëzve për të bërë diçka por vetëm kur ajo ndiqet nga një emër. 

• We stopped at the pub for a drink. 

• I went to the college for an interview with Professor Taylor. 

For nuk përdoret në këtë sens përpara një foljeje.Paskajorja e vetmuar përdoret për të shprehur qëllimin e një personi (shiko 281). 

• We stopped at the pub to have a drink. (JO: …for having a drink.) 

• I went to the college to see Professor Taylor. (JO: I went to the college for seeing Professor Taylor.) 

 

 

2. qëllimi i përdorimit të sendeve: format me –ing dhe paskajoret 

 

For mund të përdoret përpara formës –ing të një foljeje për të shprehur ‘qëllimin për të cilin shërben një objekt’ , vecanërisht nëse ky objekt është kryefjala e fjalisë. 

• Is that cake for eating or just for looking at? 

• An altimeter is used for measuring height above sea level. 

 

Nëse një person (apo grup njerëzish) është kryefjala e një fjalie, qëllimi i përdorimit të një objekti shprehet më mirë nëpërmjet një foljeje paskajore. 

• We use altimeters to measure height above sea level.

A baby polar bear goes up to his dad and asks, "Dad, am I pure polar bear?" 
The dad replies, "Sure you are son. I'm all polar bear, my parents are all polar bear, your mom is all polar bear, and her parents are all polar bear."
Still unsure the baby polar bear goes to his mom and asks, "Mom, am I pure polar bear?"

Still not convinced the baby polar bear goes to his grandparents and asks, "Grandmom...Grandpop...am I all polar bear?"
His grandmother answers, "Of course you are sweetie. We're all polar bear, your mother is all polar bear, your father is all polar bear, and his parents are all polar bear. Why do you ask sweetie?" 
The baby polar bears replies, "Because I'm f***** freezing!"

  fit dhe suit 

K◙to fjal◙ nuk kanë saktësisht të njëjtin kuptim. 

Fit – ‘më rri/në mirë’ , i referohet madhësisë/masës dhe formës dhe thuhet p.sh. për veshjet, këpucët etj.: if your clothes/shoes fit you, they are neither too big nor too small. 

• These shoes don’t fit me – have you got a larger size? 

 

Suit – ‘më shkon/shkojnë’ , i referohet stilit, ngjyrës etj. 

• Red and black are colours that suit me very well. (JO: …colours that fit me very well.) 

• Do you think this style suits me? 

 

Suit mund të përdoret gjithashtu për të folur për përshtatshmërinë ose jo të organizimit të takimeve etj. përsa i përket vendit, kohës, zgjatjes e të tjerë parametra për këto lloj aktivitetesh. 

• Tuesday would suit me very well for a meeting.
