English in practice

Amused vs. Bemused

  • Amused means entertained, finding something funny or enjoyable.
    • Example: She was amused by the comedian’s jokes.
  • Bemused means confused, bewildered, or puzzled.
    • Example: He looked bemused when he saw the strange message.

Tip: Amused is about laughter and enjoyment, while bemused is about confusion.
