(4)    Prepositions                                    Parafjalet

A preposition is a word or group of words that is used with a noun, pronoun, or noun, phrase to express a relation to another word or element in the clause. That is, prepositions usually convey concepts such as time, place, direction, location, or general descriptive information, and they are normally placed directly in front of noun or pronouns.

Nje parafjale eshte nje fjale ose nje grup fjalesh qe eshte perdorur me nje emer, peremer, ose folje, shprehje per te shprehur nje lidhje me fjalen tjeter ose elementet(grupet e fjaleve) ne nje fjali te varur. Parafjalet shpesh mbartin koncepte si koha, drejtim, vendodhje ose informacione te pergjithshme pershkruese, dhe jane normalisht te vendosura para emrave ose peremrave.

He must have changed clothes during the night.                                Ai duhet te kete ndryshuar rrobat gjate nates.

I haven´t seen her since last week.                                                        Nuk e kam pare ate qe javen e kaluar.

My twin boys were born on October 11,                                            Binjaket e mi kane lindur ne 11 Tetor, 1983, ne Tuksom, Arizona.

 1983, in Tucsom, Arizona.     

(B)   Prepositions of Place                                    Parafjalet e vendeve

He sat on the fence.                                                      Ai u ul ne gardh.

Your hat is in the bedroom.                                         Kapelia jote eshte ne dhomen e gjumit.

Our plane is flying above the clouds.                         Aeroplani yne po fluturon mbi re.

The boy was hiding below the dock.                         Djali ishte duke u fshehur poshte kantierit detar.

The ball rolled underneath the car.                           Topi u rrotullua nen makinen.

(C)    Prepositions of Direction/Movement                        Parafjalet e drejtimeve/levizjeve

She danced and twirled across the room.                                         Ajo kerceu dhe u rrotullua permes dhomes. 

Alexa took her from his arms and held her.                                      Aleksa e mori ate nga duart e tij dhe e mbajti.

Mary and Maria go to school together every morning.                   Meri dhe Maria shkojne ne shkolle se bashku cdo mengjes.

Carla climbed in through the window.                                                Karla u fut brenda permes dritares.

(D)   Miscellaneous Prepositions                               Parafjale te larmishme

She got a job as a waitress. (= in the role of)                          Ajo hyri ne pune si kamariere. (= ne rolin e)

You can be absolutely impossible at time.                             Ti mund te jesh absolutisht I pamundur ndonjehere. (= rralle here, me 

(= sometimes, occasionally)                                                        raste)

Keep your hands inside the vehicle at all times.                    Mbaj duart brenda automjetit gjate tere kohes. (= gjithmone, ne menyre 

(= always, constantly)                                                                  konstante.)

We all went to the party, except Daniel.                                  Ne te gjithe shkuam ne feste pervec Danielit. (= pervec se, pa perfshire)

(= other than, not including) 

You look like your mother. (= similar to)                                  Ti dukesh si mamaja jote. (= e ngjashme me)
