The simple past tense is used to describe actions that happened and were completed in the past. It is also used for past habits or routines that no longer occur.

Albanian 

Koha e kryer e thjeshtë përdoret për të përshkruar veprime që ndodhën dhe përfunduan në të kaluarën. Gjithashtu përdoret për zakone ose rutine të së kaluarës që nuk ndodhin më.

2. Forming the Simple Past Tense

A) Regular Verbs / Foljet e rregullta

English

For regular verbs, add -ed to the base form of the verb.

• Base Form: walk → Simple Past: walked
• Base Form: play → Simple Past: played

Spelling Rules for Regular Verbs

1. If a verb ends in -e, just add -d

   • live → lived
   • hope → hoped

2. If a verb ends in a consonant + -y, change -y to -i and add -ed

   • carry → carried
   • study → studied

3. If a verb is one syllable and ends in consonant-vowel-consonant, double the final consonant and then add -ed

   • stop → stopped
   • plan → planned

Për foljet e rregullta, shtoni prapashtesën -ed në formën bazë të foljes.

Rregulla drejtshkrimore për foljet e rregullta

1. Nëse folja mbaron me -e, shtoni vetëm -d

2. Nëse folja mbaron me bashkëtingëllore + -y, ndryshoni -y në -i dhe shtoni -ed

3. Nëse folja është një rrokëshe dhe mbaron me bashkëtingëllore-zanore-bashkëtingëllore, dyfishoni bashkëtingëlloren e fundit pastaj shtoni -ed

   • stop → stopped
