articles (8) – nyjet: të përgjithshmet dhe përjashtimet
- shprehje të përgjithshme pa nyje
Në disa shprehje të zakonshme fikse që i referohen vendit, kohës dhe lëvizjes, emrat e numërueshëm trajtohen zakonisht si të panumërueshëm por pa nyje.
Shembuj janë:
- to school
- at school
- in school (US)
- from school
- to/at/from/university/college (GB)
- to/in/from college (US)
- to/at/in/into/from church
- to/in/intoout of bed/prison
- to/in/into/out of hospital (GB)
- to/at/from work
- to/at sea
- to/in/from town
- at/from home
- leave home
- leave/start/enter school/university/college
- by day
- at night
- by car/bus/bicycle/plane/train/tube/boaton foot
- by radio/phone/letter/mail
Me emrat e vendeve, shprehjet e ngjashme me nyje mund të kenë kuptim krejtësisht të ndryshëm.
Krahaso:
- I met her at college. (kur ishim studentë)
I’ll meet you at the college. (Kolegji është vetëm një vend takimi)
- Jane’s in hospital. (është e shtruar në spital)
I left my coat in the hospital when I was visiting Jane.
- Who smokes in class? (…Brenda në sallën e klasës?)
Who smokes in the class? (Cili nga studentët e kësaj klase pi duhan?)
Në anglishten amerikane,university dhe hospital nuk përdoren pa nyje.
- She was unhappy at the university.
- shprehjet dyfjalëshe
Në shprehjet dyfjalëshe, vacanërisht në ato me parafjalë, nyjet zakonisht bien.
- with knife and fork
- with hat and coat
- from top to bottom
- on land and sea
- arm in arm
- inch by inch
- day after day
- husband and wife
Por nyjet zakonisht nuk bien kur një emër i vetmuar ndjek parafjalën (për përjashtimet, shiko paragrafin 1 më lart).
- You can’t get there without a car. (JO: …without car.)
