2. shprehjet dyfjalëshe

Në shprehjet dyfjalëshe, vacanërisht në ato me parafjalë, nyjet zakonisht bien.

• with knife and fork
• with hat and coat
• from top to bottom
• on land and sea
• arm in arm
• inch by inch
• day after day
• husband and wife

Por nyjet zakonisht nuk bien kur një emër i vetmuar ndjek parafjalën (për përjashtimet, shiko paragrafin 1 më lart).

• You can’t get there without a car. (JO: …without car.)

Për raste të tipit the bread and (the) butter, shiko 182.

3. gjinoret me ’s

Emrat që ndjekin gjinoren me ’s (si John’s , America’s), nuk marrin nyje (njëllojsi dhe emrat pas një përemri pronor).

• the coat that belongs to John = John’s coat (JO: John’s the coat OSE the John’s coat)
• the economic problems of America = America’s economic problems (JO: the America’s economic problems)

Por emri gjinor nga ana e tij mund të ketë nyje.

• the wife of the boss = the boss’s wife

4. the…of a…

Po t’i klasifikojmë shprehjet e këtij lloji, nyja e parë është shquese edhe nëse kuptimi i të gjithë shprehjes është i pa shquar.

• Lying by the side of the road we saw the wheel of a car. (JO: …a wheel of a car.)

5. modifikuesit e emrave

Kur një emër modifikon/cilëson një emër tjetër, nyjat e emrit të parë bie.

• guitar lessons = lessons in how to play the guitar (JO: the guitar lessons)
• a sunspot = a spot on the sun

6. both dhe all

Shpesh herë, nyja shquese the pas both lihet jashtë.

• Both (the) children are good at maths.

Po ashtu edhe the^ja ndërmjet all dhe një numri lihet shpesh herë jashtë.

• All (the) three brothers were arrested.

Zakonisht the^ja lihet jashtë gjithashtu edhe pas all në all day, all night, all week, all year, all winter dhe all summer.

• We’ve been waiting to hear from you all week.
• I haven’t seen her all day.

7. kind of, etj.

Zakonisht, pas kind of, sort of, type of dhe shprehjeve të tjera të ngjashme nyjet a/an lihen jashtë.

• What kind of (a) person is she? 
• Have you got a cheaper sort of radio?
• They’ve developed a new variety of sheep.
