Këto shprehje shpesh shkaktojnë konfuzion.

Besides usually adds whereas except subtracts.
Besides zakonisht shton, ndërsa except përjashton.

• Besides mathematics, we have to learn physics and chemistry. (We learn three subjects.)
• Përveç matematikës, ne duhet të mësojmë fizikë dhe kimi. (Ne mësojmë tre lëndë.)

• He can play all musical instruments except the flute. (He can’t play the flute.)
• Ai mund të luajë të gjitha instrumentet muzikore përveç flautit. (Ai nuk mund të luajë flautin.)

Apart from can be used in both senses.
Apart from mund të përdoret në të dyja kuptimet.

• Apart from mathematics, we have to learn physics and chemistry.
• Përveç matematikës, ne duhet të mësojmë fizikë dhe kimi.

(= Besides mathematics, we have to ...)
(= Përveç matematikës, ne duhet të ...)

• He can play all musical instruments apart from the violin. (= He can play all musical instruments except the violin.)
• Ai mund të luajë të gjitha instrumentet muzikore përveç violinës. (= Ai mund të luajë të gjitha instrumentet muzikore përveç violinës.)
