 7. Conjunction (Joins Words or Sentences)


A conjunction connects words, phrases, or clauses.

Examples: and, but, or, because, although

What to Know:

Coordinating conjunctions ("FANBOYS": = for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) join equal parts of a sentence.

I like apples and oranges.

Subordinating conjunctions (because, although, if) connect dependent clauses.

 I stayed home because it was raining.
