Dear students,
Following two previous lectures, this is what we should know more.
Have a close look and ask whatever question you may encounter.

First of all, what does MODAL mean?
(Fillimisht, çfarë do të thotë folje MODALE?)
modal = expressing mood
(modal = të shprehurit e gjendjes shpirtërore)
mood = a way to express the attitude of the speaker to what is being said.
(mood =një mënyrë për të shprehur sjelljen e folësit për çfarë është duke u folur.)
Examples:
(Shembuj: )
“I can paint” means the speaker believes he has the ability to paint.
(“I can paint” do të thotë se folësi beson se ai ka aftësinë të lyejë.)
“I might paint” means the speaker believes that there is a possibility for that to happen.
(“I might paint " do të thotë se folësi beson se ndodhet një mundësi që kjo të ndodhë.)
“I will paint” means the speaker has the intention to paint.
(“I will paint” do të thotë se folësi ka për synim të lyejë.)
English Modal Verbs show us the attitude of the speaker to what is being said.
(Foljet modale në anglisht na tregojnë qendrimin e folësit për ate çfarë është duke u folur.)
What is special about modal verbs?
(Cila është e veçanta e foljeve modale?)
They are special because they behave differently from other verbs in English:
(Ato janë të veçanta sepse ato kane nje natyre jo si te gjitha foljet e tjera në anglisht: )
- English modal verbs are used together with the base form of another verb.(Foljet modale në gjuhën angleze janë të përdorura bashkë me formën bazë të një foljeje tjetër.)
Examples:
(Shembuj: )
“He might come late”
“You may leave if you wish.”
“We must finish this on time.”
- English modal verbs have only one form. You don’t add “-ing” , “-ed” or “-s” to them.
(Foljet modale në gjuhën angleze kanë vetëm një formë. Ju nuk shtoni “-ing” , “-ed” ose “-s” tek ato.)

- To form negative sentences use the modal verb itself and add “not” or “n’t” to it.
(Për të formuar fjali negative përdorni vetë foljen modale dhe shtoni “not” ose “n’t” tek ajo.)
