Where have the flowers gone?

Tell me.

Where  have the flowers gone?

The flowers of delight in life,

The flowers of pretty and nice things

In the TV reports, the newspapers

and in daily conversation?

They died and suffocated under an avalanche of news

About hatred, violence, murder and petty scandals.

Nobody has seen the flowers.

Nobody has heard about them.

They died and suffocated in the wallets

of sensation-seekers

and on the lips of doom-prophets.

Tell me.

Where have the flowers gone?

The flowers of little things done for each other.

The flowers of being a gift for each other.

They have died in our self-will,

Suffocated in our so-ridiculous sensitivity,

In or mini household cold-wars.

Tell me.

Where have the flowers gone

Of that tiny bit of happy security

we can offer each other?

You have a heart,

And there’s a human being who needs you.

Bring on the flowers!

Call to the Spring. Meet the sun.

Let yourself be captured by the wonder of light

and life.

Look at the skylark

who sings so high in the air.

Do you know why?

Because he doesn’t have to pay any rent!

Look up at he sky and sing,

Because the sun is free

and it shines for you.

Further structures with the same idea.

   struktura të tjera

All(that) dhe shprrehjet me thing mund të përdoren në ‘fjalitë e ndara’ pothuaj njëlloj si edhe what.

-      All I want is a home somewhere.

-      All I did was (to) touch the window, and it broke.

-      All you need is love.

-      The only thing I remember is a terrible pain in my head.

-      The first thing is to make some coffee.

-      My first journey abroad is something I shall never forget.

Shprehjet e kohës mund të emfatizohen me It was not untildhe me it was only when…

-      It was not until I met you that I knew real happiness.

-      It was only when I read the letter that I realised what was happening.

Në fillim të një ‘cleft sentence’ , this dhe that zëvendësojnë shpesh herë here dhe there të emfatizuara.

Krahaso:

-      You pay here.

This is where you pay. (OSE: Here is where you pay.)

-      We live there.

That’s where we live. (OSE: There’s where we live.)

Introductory "It".

 3.   It - nje kryefjale e domosdoshme

Edhe përgatitësja it mund të përdoret gjithashtu në cleft sentences’. Në këtë rast fjalët që duhen emfatizuar bashkohen zakonisht me fjalinë lidhore me anë të that.

 Krahaso:

-      My secretary sent the bill to Mr Harding yesterday.

It was my secretary that sent the bill to Mr Harding yesterday. (jo dikush tjetër, por sekretarja)

It was the bill that my secretary sent to Mr Harding yesterday. (asgjë tjetër por faturën)

It was Mr Harding that my secretary sent the bill to yesterday. (jo dikujt tjetër, por zotit Harding)

It was yesterday that my secretary sent the bill to Mr Harding. (jo një ditë cfarëdo, por dje)

Strukturat negative gjithashtu janë të mundura.

-      It wasn’t my husband that sent the bill…

Kur fjala që emfatizojmë është një kryefjalë e shprehur me një emër vetor, në vend të that mund të përdorim who.

-      It was my secretary who sent

Kur emfatizojmë një kryefjalë shumës, folja merr gjithashtu numrin shumës.

-      It was the students that were angry… (JO: …that was angry…)

Kur kryefjala që emfatizohet është një përemër, ekzistojnë dy mundësi. Krahaso:

-      It is I who am responsible. (formale)

It’s me that’s responsible. (informale)

-      It is you who are in the wrong. (formale)

It’s you that’s in the wrong. (informale)

Për të evituar si të qenit tepër formal ashtu edhe tepër informal do të mund të thonim p.sh.: I’m the person/the one who’s responsible. Duhet të keni parasysh që në strukturat që kanë brenda tyre pregatitësen it folja nuk mund të emfatizohet: NUK mund të themi p.sh.: It was sent that my secretary the bill

“Cold in the earth and the 60th wild December just started his way from above those hills around Ohrid lake!

They will always melt into spring!

A few more and then enough for me !
