69. Keep and put 

• Incorrect: He kept the book on the table. 

• Correct: He put the book on the table.

 • Incorrect: He always puts his money in this box. 

• Correct: He always keeps his money in this box. 

Use keep of a more or less permanent resting place. Use put of only a temporary one.
